A friend of mine came back from Hawaii recently and brought me back, among other things, a can of macadamia nuts. After having eaten about half the can for the past week, I decided to make cookies with the rest. I'm a HUGE fan of white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. Yummy!Poll #961235 The Cookie Poll

I thought, once again, to finish your fic so I could post the warm wishes and a little Michael/Sara at the same time, but, well, we both remember how well that work last year, don't we? *sheepish grin* I CAN promise that before next year's b-day, you'll get a little something from me (possible in fic form). In the meantime,
So, clearly not a month where I wrote much. Huh.I O U (Lorelei/Cute!Dean, Gilmore Girls, PG) - let's just say it ends with them exchanging chewing gumGood Morning, Sunshine (Danny/Jordan, Studio 60, PG) - Danny had a way of waking JordanSafe (Original Fiction) - Youre safe now. Anything you want to say, you can..._________I can't seem to write. I now I want to, but nothing much is coming out. The novel? Yeah, no real interest. My fics are languishing in various states of unfinished-ness. And yet, strangely, I got linked to medie's prompt sorta-challenge thingy, You Must've Been Kissin' a Fool, and I wrote 2 quick dabbles (above). I like prompts; they get my brain moving. Brain working = good, I think. :]If anyone want to give me a fandom and a prompt, it might get me to write something. Fandoms: (mostly) SPN, VM, PB, Studio60, Firefly, Farscape
I just caught up on 3 weeks worth of 24 and I have to say:- Jack's all achy and hurt. Poor Jack.- Audrey's dead? *wibbling* Poor Jack.- Ricky Schroeder scares me. Poor Nadia.- That VP scares me. (Powers Boothe has always scared me) Poor Wayne.- Ex-Prez Logan is dead, ain't he? Sweeeeet!!- Audrey did the whole Spy Game thing for Jack and got caught in China *wibbling some more*- I don't trust Bauer's sis-in-law at all, not as far as I can throw her- I don't trust Milo either for some reason -- he's too... perfect, you know?- Say that Audrey's not dead, otherwise there's NO hope for Jack to have a happy ending this season!- Aaron and Martha Logan?? Dude, Aaron's finally getting some! Hee. I've always had a thing for him.
High holy fuck. That ep... omg, wibbling. That was an amazing episode from start to finish. Dean all excited about the possibility of facing a werewolf, Sam mocking him. Hee. And then the reality of werewolves and demons and humans and evil and all hitting Dean when he shots Glenn... Dean's face in that moment, gah! It's not all black & white, is it baby? He breaks me. It's a painful lesson he's learning that not all evil is pure evil, that there are shades and sometimes the victims are innocent. I don't know that that's something John ever taught them, but it's something Dean's learning from Sam. And it's shaking his foundation.Emmanuelle Vaugier was great as Madison and I can see why Sam would go for her. Shirtless!Sam. Finally. It's been ages since we've seen the boys shirtless, so YAY! (Sorry! I had to mention it. It's shirtless!Sam, how could I NOT??) I knew it would end bad. It had to. But I never imagined that Sam would have to kill Maddie. Sam's tears... are there words? And hearing it happen from Dean's POV?I have to say one thing for this show: they know how to build toward a season finale. I's been coming since "In My Time of Dying" when John died. Dean is becoming less sure about all of this. Learning about what happened to Jo's dad, Meg taking over Sam's body, Dean's realization about the "good" vampires and then dealing with Gordon... it's all leading him somewhere. Is he ready to quit hunting? Will he walk away from Sam? I can't see him doing that, EVER, but it's been one hit after another for that boy. Can anyone blame him for questioning everything? And Sam. Now that he knows what he may be capable of, can he ever walk away? He's determined, more than he's ever been, to put a stop to evil. And having killed Madison, his heart has hardened even more I'm sure. The role reversal has been gradual and believable. And heartbreaking. *wibbles some more for my boys*
My router has gone all goofy and refuses to play nice. This means I have to actually sit in my little study, with the ethernet cable connected directly to the laptop. Why do people like me have to suffer while people with working wireless connections run around, frivolous and oblivious? Why, oh, WHY???OK, drama aside (hee!), I'm trying to catch up on fun stuff this weekend -- one of the few free ones I'll have for the next four months. 1. There's a SPN fic I'm trying to finish up. It's gen, Dean/OFC, rated PG-13.... uhm, maybe NC-17... Yeah, it's porny. My first real porn (probably my only). Would anyone be willing to beta when it's done?2. A Dean-centric SPN vid to the Snow Patrol song "You're All I Have". Every frickin' time I listen to that song, I picture Dean. "Give me a chance to hold on, give something to hold on to..." 3. Various other vids, mainly a Dean/VM vid... actually a series of vids, chronicling their relationship. The relationship I've created in my mind. (I promise, katayla, this doesn't mean I'm anti-Logan/Veronica. This is just a fling. I swear! The LoVe bubble is -- mostly -- firmly in place.)4. And finally a PB fic, Kellerman/Sara, which is kinda porny, too. That one I blame on gizziemcgee for constantly going on about the hotness of Kellerman in that suit holding the gun and all. I'm not made of stone, people! There are various other fics and such, but I'm trying not to start anything new, what with work being crazy and all and most of my free time going toward the novel.Enough rambling. But, one more thing. I saw The Shooter tonight. I was stunned by the liberal-leaning message of the movie. They didn't outright say Bush was an idiot, but they danced around the issue enough to make a blind/deaf man get it. And still, I think it was a very patriot movie. Huh, who knew Hollywood could make one of those??? And a shirtless Mark Walberg is not a bad thing at all. Finally, I leave you with this: An Open Letter to the Vice President of the United States, Dick Cheney
I saw Amazing Grace tonight. It was SUCH a good movie -- I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical movies, uplifting movies, moral movies, movies with hot men in them, and, most especially, to Ioan Gruffudd fans. It will not disappoint you, I promise. The time period of the movie is roughly 1783-1807, when William Wilberforce fought to pass a bill to abolish slavery, shifting between two time periods, and employing the use of Michael Gambon, Rufus Sewell, Albert Finney and mainly Ioan to extremely good use. I also loved Benedict Cumberbatch, the actor who played William Pitt, the Prime Minister. There was a moment at the beginning when a former slave is telling his story and Benedict (William) had tears in his eyes. It looked real, not forced or anything, and just that image of the character, and possibly the actor, with unshed tears in his eyes greatly moved me. I was hooked from that moment on.If it's still playing in a theater near you, go see it. I mean, really... what else are you going to see?? There's like massive crap out there.(And yes, OK, I loved the movie because there was Ioan and Rufus eye candy drool-age. What? I'm human, aren't I? Wait... don't answer that.)
Say it ain't so! Say Kristin Veitch is a complete airhead! (Which she is, but beside the point.) From her blog:Friday, 12:08 p.m.: The CW rep for Veronica Mars tells me: "The show has not been canceled. A decision will be made at the Upfront on May 17." Sources tell me that the show is most likely to come back in its new FBI format (described below) or not return at all.Friday, 9:22 a.m.: After speaking with very reliable sources this morning, I can tell you the following about Veronica Mars:1. Creator Rob Thomas is shooting a five- to six-minute featurette of a new version of Veronica Mars, which is one of three options the CW is considering for next season (cancellation, renewal or new format). 2. This new Veronica version takes place four years in the future, and features Veronica as a full-fledged FBI agent. (This morning's Hollywood Reporter incorrectly reports that in the new featurette, Veronica is still in the FBI Academy.)3. Kristen Bell is the only castmember who is part of this "FBI years" trailer/featurette. It is not yet known which other castmembers would come on board if the CW chooses this option. Veronica's current cast and crew were informed of the featurette yesterday (hence, the widespread panic and cancellation rumors running rampantand my panic attack).4. For better or worse, Veronica's fate has not yet been decided, and I'm told the chances of it coming back in its current format are looking grim. So, keep reading and show your support below in the comments section. (By the way, never before have I seen comments pile up so fast and so strong anywhere on E! Online. Keep 'em coming!)Now back to the original story that posted last night...Thursday, 10:11 p.m.: You may have seen my earlier report that Veronica Mars has been canceled.Well, let me just say that though I heard this heart-wrenching info from sixyes, sixreliable sources on both the network and studio sides and that the "cancellation" rumor ran rampant around all sectors of Hollywood today, apparently the picture is more complex than a straight canceled-or-not-canceled scenario. At this hour, here's what I can tell you:I just heard from Veronica mastermind and showrunner Rob Thomas, who told me, "If we're canceled, I certainly don't know about it."According to CW insiders, the network has not officially canceled Veronica Mars. However, here's the catch: It is currently considering a different format for the fourth season. From what I hear, that format would leap four years into the future and focus on Veronica as an FBI agent. Aside from returning star Kristen Bell (duh), the rest of the cast is yet to be determined, but it isn't likely that many of her current costars would be on hand. So, bottom line: Veronica Mars could be: (1) spinning off into a new format, (2) returning in her college years or (3) getting axed. And let me just say, number three is indeed a very real possibility, so it is most definitely time to rally the troops before it's too late! If you care about Veronica Mars and want it to survive (and if you're a fan of good TV, I know you do!), please comment below with your name and message of support. And email your friends the link to this column so they can do the same. (I will forward your comments to the powers that be at the CW.) Then please send a "Save Veronica" postcard or letter to:Dawn OstroffPresident of Entertainment, The CW Television Network4000 Warner Blvd., Bldg 168Burbank, CA 91522-0002
The flu's kicked my ass pretty well, but I'm starting to feel a little better. I stayed home all weekend, drinking fluids, watching movies, and doing very little else. I did make dinner tonight, though, so YAY me. I didn't eat any of it, but I'm hoping tomorrow I'll be well enough to keep down food. Now, I'm catching up on LJ and friends comments. Also, I wanted to post this: to see the new PofC Trailer, go HERE -- check back in a few hours to see the trailer!!!
My friends and I were watching a movie where someone's getting rid of a body. My friend suggested burning the body. Me: How would you burn it?A: Take it to to a crematorium.Me: Then there's proof at the crematorium. They have to have paperwork before they cremate a body.A: There's no other way to get rid of a body so it won't be found.Me: Sure there is.F: How would you do it?Me: You find a site that's about to have a foundation laid down. You bury the body. You have to plan it just right, so that in the next day or two, cement's poured. No one's finding that body, at least not in my lifetime. At that point, my friends started moving away from me.What? Am I the only one that has thought about how to dispose of a dead body?
I finished a really great book, called The Glass Castle. It's a memoir written by Jeannette Walls. It grabbed me from the very first sentence: "I was sitting in a taxi, wondering if I had overdressed for the evening, when I looked out the window and saw Mom rooting through a Dumpster."From the back cover of the paperback version: "The Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant. When sober, Jeannette's brilliant and charismatic father captured his children's imagination, teaching them physics, geology, and how to embrace life fearlessly. But when he drank, he was dishonest and destructive. Her mother was a free-spirit who abhorred the idea of domesticity and didn't want the responsibility of raising a family. The Walls children learned to take care of themselves. They fed, clothed, and protected one another, and eventually found their way to New York. Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered."I enjoyed the way the story was told, without the "why me?" whine of most memoirs. The story is told in a straight forward, matter-of-fact manner, without recriminations, accusations, self-pity or sorrow. Her life was her life, and she and her siblings lived it as best they could, using their ingenuity and resourcefulness to survive days without food, using safety pins to keep their shoes closed, and banding together to fight each other's battles.I very much recommend it.

Is his best friend leaving him too?- Tokens (Studio 60, Danny/Jordan, G): It's Valentine's Day and Jordan expects a token of affection from Danny.- The Assassin's Equipment (Original Fiction, PG): A assassin has his work cut out for him when his victim throws him for a loop.- Pieta (Veronica Mars, Logan/Veronica, PG): Veronica is devastated and lost. In that moment, Logan is there for her.
